Dala is the Toronto-based, Juno-nominated duo Sheila Carabine and Amanda Walther. With incomparable vocal harmonies, emotionally resonant songwriting, and deeply engaging live shows, Dala have made a signature name for themselves as a beloved fixture of the Canadian Folk scene.
Now returning with their long-awaited new album The Big Bang, Dala are stepping into a refreshed creative chapter shaped by years of solo work, life experience, and artistic growth. The result is a striking collection of songs that feel at once intimate, stripped-down, and vividly alive. Fans new and old will be struck by the duo's maturity as songwriters, as well as the unmistakable connection that has defined them from the very beginning.

The First Single from Dala’s new album came out June 19th
Toronto duo Dala return with “Lewiston,” an intimate new single recorded live off the studio floor in a single, complete take.
Built around one acoustic guitar and the pair’s unmistakable intertwined harmonies, the song captures the warmth, spontaneity, and deep musical connection that has defined the Canadian duo for more than two decades.
A nostalgic ode to friendship and life on the road, “Lewiston” reflects on years spent touring between Canada and the United States via the song’s namesake border crossing. Sparse, hypnotic, and emotionally direct, the track blends contemporary folk and Americana with the timeless influence of 60s and 70s singer-songwriter harmony music
Quotes & Testimonials
-
“Dala can sing! What beautiful flights of melody and harmony, reminiscent of the Everly Brothers, the Louvin Brothers, Emmylou Harris and associates; though Dala can trade a melody line and leave one wondering who is taking the lead and simply leave one behind when the harmonies kick in.”
-
“There’s nothing pretentious about Dala’s music; it’s stripped down and laid bare. That’s not to say it is without polish – far from it. Sheila Carabine and Amanda Walther have worked hard to exploit every facet of their extraordinary musical blend, and it would be just as at home in a 1960s coffeehouse as it is now on the contemporary concert stage”
-
“Dala seem bound for a loftier place where substance stands equal to style.”
